About Us

When was the Ministry established?

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Samoa was established under the Telecommunications Services Act 1999

Why was the Ministry established?

The Ministry was established with its goal to lead the ICT industry in the country and also the region in broadband communications

Provide policy advice on all matters relating to the provision of postal and telecommunications services

Get to know our leaders

Honorable Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo was appointed on 24th May 2021 as Samoa’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Office of the Regulator, Samoa Posts Limited, Broadcasting and Department for Legislative Assembly. Honorable Toelupe was educated at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, obtaining both his Master of Engineering Science and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Civil. He holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics with Statistics and Physics from the University of the South Pacific.

Lefaoalii Unutoa Auelua-Fonoti is the CEO for the Ministry of Communication Information Technology. She is from the villages of Mutiatele, Lotopue and holds the chiefly matai tittle Lefaoalii from Lepa. Lefaoalii holds a Master of Engineering in Management Engineering from the University of Southern Queensland in Brisbane Australia. As well as a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and an Advanced Diploma of Engineering in Electronics from RMIT University in Melbourne Australia.
