Radio 2AP has been serving Samoa since 1947 as the first public broadcasting station established in Samoa’s history. In 2008, 2AP came under the responsibility of MCIT. Known as “The Voice of the Nation”, it is the key source of information during emergencies, government official messages and a platform to promote Samoan culture and traditions. It also delivers quality coverage across the nation through live broadcasts of national events such as the Teuila Festival, Fautasi Race and the Independence Day celebrations.
Since the country’s transformation into digitising its services, the re-introduction of its television service has provided value to delivering information to the public at large. Operating on its trading name, TV9, the television channel will provide the same service as Radio 2AP in informing the public about development initiatives of the government.
As the official radio station for dissemination of official government information, Radio 2AP commits to deliver the most responsible, credible and accurate service during natural disasters and any ‘state of emergency proclamation’ in collaboration with relevant Ministries. We value our commitment to deliver the most up-to-date reports to the public enabling an informed and educated society in times of crisis.
It is our primary responsibility to ensure that we work in synergy with Government Ministries to report on and bring awareness to government policies and development initiative for the information of Samoans locally and abroad. The Ministry of Health utilizes our morning shows to promote healthy lifestyle policies of the government through jazzercise programs being broadcast on a daily basis.
Our editorial principles are guided by the 2017 Samoa Media Codes of Practices where we value the public’s trust on our daily practices in professional newsrooms both in Radio 2AP and TV9. The government’s Broadcasting Services has a statutory duty to deliver professional and ethical news stories and information. There are two news bulletins in a day. Morning bulletin at 7am replay at 8am and 12pm and the last bulletin of the day at 5pm to be replayed at 6pm, Monday to Saturday. A weekly news recap is aired on Sundays.
Le Si’ufofoga o Samoa (Radio 2AP) has served as Samoa’s primary information source since 1947, broadcasting emergency warnings, official messages, and cultural content. As part of the Broadcasting Services Division, we increase sales through marketing campaigns for events like Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and White Sunday across Radio 2AP, TV9, and social media. Our coverage reaches neighboring islands including Tutuila, Manu’a, and Tokelau, while our ZENO APP connects Radio 2AP internationally. The 10pm Pese Molimana’o Show remains our most popular program, attracting clients throughout the region.
