Minister of Communications & Information Technology
Honorable Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo was appointed on 24th May 2021 as Samoa’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Office of the Regulator, Samoa Posts Limited, Broadcasting and Department for Legislative Assembly.
Honorable Toelupe was educated at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, obtaining both his Master of Engineering Science and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Civil. He holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics with Statistics and Physics from the University of the South Pacific.
Honorable Minister started his career as a High School Teacher in the early 90s both in Samoa, and in American Samoa. He then joined the engineering industry from early 2000’s starting at the Ministry of Works (now MWTI) as an Asset Management Database Analyst.
After his scholarship years in Sydney Australia, he had an opportunity to work at some of the major infrastructure/consultancy engineering firms in both Sydney and Brisbane. He returned to Samoa in 2014 when he was appointed as the head of the Planning and Urban Management Agency (PUMA) and ACEO under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
In 2015, Honorable Toelupe was appointed Chief Executive of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, which he served for three years, at which he decided to continue his service through politics.
He is a devoted Christian servant through the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa.
