The Ministry of Communications & Information Technology alongside Infosys & SkyEye convened a two-day workshop on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) – bringing together stakeholders to lay the foundations for Samoa’s digital transformation on the 8th & 10th September 2026.
DPI is not a single system or an IT project owned by one Ministry. It is the secure digital foundation, like our roads, wharves and electricity grid, that all our citizens can rely on. It rests on three key pillars:
- Digital Identity: a secure and trusted way for every Samoan to prove who they are, once.
- Digital Payments: fast, affordable, and interoperable payment systems to support businesses and financial inclusion
- Data Exchange & Consent: enabling agencies to securely share verified information with citizen consent, so Samoans are not asked to provide the same information over and over.
Over the two days, we built a shared understanding of DPI, assessed Samoa’s current digital maturity, identified our strategic priorities, and have given insights to validate an action plan on first steps.
The practical working two-day forum serves as further evidence of the Government of Samoa’s focus and priority, in driving digital innovation for secure, convenient and inclusive services for our people.
